Are these the type of numbers Tom Brady could have put up if he had playmakers earlier in his career? Suddenly, I am not that impressed with Peyton Manning.
Derrick Anderson has really surprised me this season, especially with his mobility (two rushing touchdowns). Anderson does have some pretty nice weapons in Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow, but not many expected him to still be in the starting lineup with rookie Brady Quinn sitting on the sidelines.
It’s debatable who has more talent – Randy Moss or Terrell Owens. But do you think Owens would ever be able to flourish in New England? Moss is no model citizen, but Owens is one of the most selfish athletes I have ever seen. Part of Moss’ rebirth can be attributed to the Patriots organization and the fact that they are winning, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the attitude of “The Freak”.
With the Chris Chambers trade to San Diego, the Dolphins are one Ronnie Brown injury away from not only being one of the worst teams in football but having one of the worst offenses this decade.
Is it me or are the Bengals starting to look like the Chargers of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, putting up ridiculous offensive numbers with no defense whatsoever? Of course the major difference is that San Diego did not have 15-20 felons on its team.
Vince Young has just one rushing touchdown and only 129 yards on the ground through Tennessee’s first five games. I didn’t think Young was going to break Michael Vick’s single season rushing record or score 15 touchdowns, but his numbers are pretty low right now. And it’s not like Young is putting up big passing stats either.
Who has been a bigger bust this fantasy season - Shaun Alexander or Larry Johnson? I think LJ through the first six weeks because of his average draft position. But I would take LJ in a second if I had to choose between the two players right now. Alexander is a borderline Hall of Fame player, but he looks old and slow.
Is there a more overrated quarterback in the league than Philip Rivers? This guy made the freakin’ Pro Bowl last year!! He has had one good game all season and has been unproductive in five others. The Chargers added Chris Chambers via trade, but it won’t matter. San Diego will be lucky to make the playoffs because their defense is not as good as last season and Rivers cannot win games on his own like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
Outisde of Randy Moss and Terrell Owens, Plaxico Burress is the most gifted receiver in the NFL.
Brian Westbrook is probably the best receiving running back I’ve ever seen not named Marshall Faulk. Westbrook looks a lot smaller than what is listed on his bio (5-10, 203), but he still finds a way to make big plays every week in the running and passing game. In 44 contests since 2004, Westbrook has averaged 121.2 yards from scrimmage per game with 30 touchdowns.
Has anyone ever seen a worse set of quarterbacks and wide receivers than what the Vikings have? Tarvaris Jackson and Kelly Holcomb do not exactly put fear in the heart of defenses at the quarterback position and Troy Williamson and Bobby Wade are a sorry set of starting wideouts. If not for WR Sidney Rice, a talented rookie from South Carolina, the future would be bleak in Minnesota even with Adrian Peterson.
If Jon Kitna makes it through an entire season, I’ll be stunned. The Lions put the ball in the air way too much and Kitna takes a lot of hits.
Why does Jerious Norwood get so few carries? Okay, so he’s not a great blocker. Who cares? Norwood is the fastest player in the league and can make people miss. Warrick Dunn is all done, no pun intended. There is no reason why Norwood shouldn’t get 15 rushes per game.
What’s up with Larry Fitzgerald and all his fumbles? Entering this season Fitzgerald had fumbled just once in his career and his team regained possession. All of a sudden, Fitzgerald is looking like Tiki Barber pre-2004 with three lost fumbles in four games. Fitzgerald is still nasty and it’s not a big deal, just one of those fluky things.
