Quick Rockies Rant...

So from what I've read today as well as what I heard on the radio on the ride to work (Mike & Mike), everyone seems to be taking the stance of "don't count out the Rockies yet, now that they're past Beckett". Seriously? I haven't heard anyone say this yet, so I'll take ownership for it; out of the 80 or so NL pitchers that started 15 or more games this year, Ubaldo Jimenez was the 11th worst in terms of walks per 9 innings (4.06). Here were the guys ahead of him:

Player BB/9
Rick VandenHurk 5.29
Byung-Hyun Kim 5.17
Noah Lowry 5.02
Kyle Davies 4.60
Doug Davis 4.44
Scott Olsen 4.33
Kip Wells 4.31
Carlos Zambrano 4.20
Tim Redding 4.07
Matt Albers 4.07

If you take out Zambrano, the combined record for the players above this year was 69-91. Facing a ridiculously patient Sox lineup, how does this bode well for the Rox tonight? I still don't believe the Sox'll sweep them, but it would take a near miracle collapse by Schilling for us to lose tonight...

You and all your fancy numbers....the Rockies pitcher's name is just fun to say....Ubaldo, Ubaldo, Ubaldo...I say Ubaldo wins tonight.

Ubaldo is fun to say, but not as fun as Asdrubal...
